Writing Prompt for Tuesday, November 30

Think of a movie you have watched recently that had a twist to the plot. When it confused you, what did you do? How did you figure out what the movie was trying to say? If you talked to a friend about the movie, did they have a different perspective? Why do you think directors choose to include elements of mystery in their creations?

Please respond below.

Citing your sources

When conducting your research, it is important that you cite all of the sources that you use. Each time you find a new website, use the following link to record the bibliographic information.

Tuesday, November 23 8th Grade Writing

Daily writing prompt
Go back to last Thursday’s prompt and choose one of the three possible topics you listed there. Then you should create a "wish list" of what you need to know about that topic. There should be at least 10 items on that list. Remember to look back at the essential questions for magazine articles. This prompt should be done as comment under this blog posting.

After you finish responding you should begin your research, trying to find information about your topic, and you should try to get all the items on your wish list done. Save this information as a Word document in your files, and be sure to save the web address from the sources you are using.

Limericks

There are three things to do today:
- Post your contest entry limerick to this blog
- Read your classmates' limericks and post a response to one of them
- Search for limericks online. Find one and post it to the blog with your commentary included below the poem. Be sure to cite the source you retrieved the poem from.

At the end of class you should have posted 3 times to this blog posting.

Guy Fawkes Day

Do a little research on Guy Fawkes to find out who he was and what he did. Then, come back here and answer the question: Was guy Fawkes a hero or a villain?

That should only take you about 15-20 minutes

Next, you need to research topics for your sonnet writing project. Remember, you need 1 topic from the renaissance and 2 topics from modern times. These topics will be what you are writing your sonnet about. This is not what you did for Mr. Corn's class, meaning you are not searching for sonnets that have already been written. You are searching for events, people, artwork, scientific discoveries, etc... that will become the topic for your sonnets.
Remember, 1 topic from the renaissance, and 2 topics from modern times.

This will be the information you use to write all three of your sonnets, which are due next Wednesday.

Good luck, and happy Friday.
